Mexican Casinos
The gambling issue has been a constant controversy stretching back as far as anyone can remember. Ever since the revolution of 1911 ended the renaissance of French-style casinos, the legal (and moral) status of casino gambling has been hotly debated and ambiguous at best. A brief boom during the 1920′s heyday of Hollywood and U. S. Prohibition gave us the glamorous Agua Caliente, but soon after came the reformer Cardenas and his still-existing anti-gambling edicts. Though Fox attempted to bring some reason and resolve to the morass of vague and conflicting laws, the casinos that exist today maintain an uneasy legal status, and many Mexican gambling enthusiasts prefer to leave them to the tourists.
Luckily, modern Mexico is more than willing and able to experience the current online casino boom. The online casinos have all the casino games available online that the brick-and-mortar casinos lack. Predictably, online bingo is a huge hit among Mexican gamblers, but there are some well-known casino games that simply cannot be found at the few Mexican casinos that currently operate. Caribbean Poker (and all varieties of Poker) is far too popular in Mexico to be so difficult to find — yet all the best online casinos will offer it, and there are even several high-quality poker-specific sites whose business is to provide the poker player with the games, tournaments, and options that may not have otherwise been available.
Even if the current crop of developers get their way, and the current legalities work out in their favor, we will likely not see the new casinos built for several years. And again, even when they are open for business, they will almost exclusively be operating in popular resort destinations or on the U. S. border. This may do the Mexican gambler some good if he or she happens to live in or be planning a trip to Cancun or Acapulco, but for the vast number of Mexicans, such a trip is perhaps less than desirable. Instead, the convenience and safety of a trip online is much more likely; any time of the day or night, you can spend as little or as much time as you like at an online casino. Given the flexible and much lower betting limits, you can also spend as little money as you like!
When it comes down to it, the Matamoros or Tijuana option should not be your only option if you are interested in gambling in Mexico. Certainly, the brick-and-mortar resorts offer a decent travel destination and various physical details that might make for an occasional vacation trip, but if you are serious or just curious about gambling and playing casino games, the online experience is most likely your best bet.
